me Convention 2018: Austin, TX
Last year, Mercedes-Benz in partnership with South by Southwest established a futuristic festival concept that brought together young minds and innovators to “empower everyone to shape the future.”
The me Convention, which took place in Frankfurt, Germany, was attended by more than 2,700 participants from more than 35 countries and met with much success. Because of the feedback garnered at last year’s festival, the two power brands will come together again to celebrate the second installation of the me Convention that will take place at the Fairmont in Austin, TX from March 9-18.
“Following the successful launch of the me Convention format with South by Southwest, we will continue our collaboration in 2018,” said Dr. Jens Thiemer, vice president of marketing at Mercedes-Benz cars. “Our intensive collaboration began just over a year ago, when our CEO, Dr. Dieter Zetsche was at the SXSW in Austin. As part of the IAA in Frankfurt, the first me Convention took place, tightly curated and inspired by SXSW, whose makers had never before entered into a partnership outside the U.S. Therefore, it is more important to us to return now with an advanced concept to the place where the me Convention originated.”
Guests who attend this year’s convention can expect a continued conversation regarding the future as it relates to the creative, digital and tech industries. Various events have been scheduled throughout the event, including a new platform “Mystery Talks by me Convention” that will not be listed on the official program, but announced the day of.
Besides talks, attendees can participate in other activities including open dialogues, livestreams, meet and greats with speakers, yoga sessions, workshops and interactive installations. There will also be a food court on premise, so guests can grab food on the go.
