Car Stars

Vroom, vroom! Audi is speeding into another industry besides automobiles… movies! This summer, the German car manufacturer starred in not just one, but two Hollywood blockbusters: Spiderman: Homecoming and Alien: Covenant. Who doesn’t enjoy seeing their favorite car showcased on the silver screen? Read more about Audi’s cameos below.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

Moviegoers who bought tickets to the new Spiderman movie saw more than a superhero showdown. They also caught a glimpse of Audi’s newest vehicle, the A8 L.

Loren Angelo, Vice President of Marketing at Audi of America, announced in a press release: “At Audi, we are constantly redefining what superpowers are through our vehicles, and this partnership and platform provide an organic way for us to showcase select current and future Audi Intelligent Technologies to that next-generation audience that will be behind the wheel of our next-generation models.”

The new luxury sedan has many high-quality features, including rear-wheel steering and a traffic-jam pilot feature. During the movie, viewers get to experience how the new traffic-jam pilot feature works during a scene with Tom Holland and Jon Favreau. The A8 wasn’t the only vehicle featured in the movie, either. The audience also saw cameos by the Audi R8 V10 Spyder and the Audi TTS Roadster.

ALIEN: COVENANT

As the Lunar Quattro preps to embark on its mission to the moon in the near future, the Audi-developed space rover took a pitstop in Hollywood. The Lunar Quattro made its big-screen debut in Alien: Covenant and helped the crew of the eponymous spaceship explore a new planet.

By spotlighting the Lunar Quattro in this summer blockbuster, Audi hopes to make viewers aware of the strides made by the company in developing intelligent technology as well as its foothold in space exploration.

“The Alien franchise is the best way for us to garner suitable attention for the moon rover developed by Audi and to showcase Audi’s intelligent technologies in a visionary environment,” says Giovanni Perosino, Vice President of International Marketing Communication at Audi, in a press release.

As mentioned in the premiere issue of Highways, the Audi Lunar Quattro is a technology the company developed in collaboration with the Part-Time Scientists, who are attempting to win Google’s Lunar XPrize competition by completing a series of tasks on the moon’s surface. A concrete date for the rover’s launch has yet to be determined, but you can check for updates by visiting audi.com.
